So what am I on about? The idea of this study I am taking part in is to work out how much of an effect cold water immersion/protein shakes have on recovery and the effectiveness of weight training sessions specifically for cyclists. I'll be assigned at random to either do the cold water recovery or the protein shake as a means of recovery, but my hope is I'll get to do cold water immersion as I am really interested in the effect.
The lab itself is incredible with fantastic gym equipment, the changing rooms were just incredible- it's as if it is straight out of a sci-fi movie.
Before I started the exercises I warmed up on a Watt Bike ,which was cool for someone who hasn't got a power meter to see what numbers they can put out, and also which leg is stronger (my right leg I think). After that I was taken through three weight exercises; the half squat, Bulgarian squat, and calf raise, I'll be using these exercises for the 10 week programme of weight training sessions twice a week.
One last thing- no I'm NOT doing any performance enhancing drugs!!! For the people that like to make ridiculous speculations and rumours!
