I don’t think you can find a more fancy looking product than this…
Chamois Cream from Chapeau! comes in two options the Original and the Menthol version which I will be reviewing here. Both available via their website on this link.
This Menthol variation certainly reminded me of Assos chamois cream for its tingly cooling feel after applying. This may be due to the anti-bacterial qualities both products share unlike the Udderly Smooth Chamois Cream (reviewed here) which does not have the same tingly sensation. The menthol ingredient creates a peppermint kind of smell which is quite pleasant .The purpose of the Menthol ingredient is ‘for an extra cooling and soothing affect. It is not to everyone's liking as it can be thought to be a bit too tingly’.
Coming in a tube, it does make application directly to the chamois pad less messy, as you can squeeze the cream directly onto the pad without having to get your hands covered in the stuff.
I have not had any complaints so far about this product and it has served me well to prevent chafing on moderate sized rides. I have not tested this on especially long rides nearer to the 100 mile work but I am sure that with plenty applied both directly to the chamois cream and to sit-bone area and buttocks it would work well.
In 200ml tubes I think this product is a great compromise between the more expensive Assos Chamois Cream (reviewed here) which comes in smaller 140ml tub and the Udderly Smooth Chamois cream which comes in a larger 225g tub. Chapeau! Menthol Chamois Cream is currently (at time of writing) available on sale at wiggle.co.uk for £8.75 (regular price £11.99 on the Chapeau! website).
